Meliorist Technology specializes in digital media product development and product strategy. We have provided strategic consulting services to a range of companies, from long term contracts with Disney/ABC, PBS and Scholastic Entertainment, to independent content producers and early stage companies. We have managed product development from concept to deployment in interactive television, video on demand, and broadband video distribution. We have worked extensively on new and innovative consumer interface designs, and on the integration of advertising to maximize both consumer and advertiser value. We specialize in consumer-driven digital media productization of studio and network media properties.

Stephan Fopeano is the principal of Meliorist Technology. Stephan has an extensive background in the creation of interactive media content, and in the development of key technologies and business models around the new media industry today.

Stephan served as a strategic consultant for the Disney/ABC Television Group, which manages Disney’s television properties, including ABC, Disney Channel, Toon Disney, ABC Family, and SOAPNet. There, he helped launch a number of interactive television initiatives from concept development, financial modeling and business planning, through to the technological implementation. Areas of work have included a Disney Channel interactive portal and games package for Dish Network and the full episode player on ABC.Com. Stephan received an Emmy Award in 2004 for his work on the Disney/ABC project Jetix Cards Live.

Stephan also worked with the Public Broadcasting Service on their digital initiatives. He assisted in the creation of a funding model for the PBS HD Channel as well as a proposal for a private sector sponsorship of the channel. He has created financial models and business plans for PBS video on demand products on cable, broadband, and telco services.

Meliorist Technology has provided consulting services, and entered into joint ventures with a number of start-up ventures providing unique content for interactive television and video-on-demand. Stephan has helped these ventures secure distribution on television and other alternative channels, create and sell new advertising models, and secure production financing.

Stephan was a founder and the CEO of TV Mentor (later known as OKTV), which developed an intelligent parental control system and content metadata process. There, he successfully raised venture funding and negotiated carriage deals with the cable and satellite providers. Stephan also served as the CTO, guiding the development of the software and deployment methodologies for the company’s personalization platform.
